So it seems, “Cyber-Monday” is becoming the way to shop. Web sales jumped 15%, to $846 million from $733 million a year earlier (according to the LA Times. Not nearly as much as the $10.6 billion, we spend in stores (ShopperTrak RCT Corp) on Black Friday.
Ahh, a world of eCommerce…

As I sit here and work, with the TV blabbing away in the background to drown out the noise of the “T” — “Next Stop, Chestnut Hill Avenue”. I take notice to something rather odd, almost laughable.

The Today Show reported this morning that the Internet growth from 1999 has skyrocketed from 500,000 users in 1999 to 237,168,545 users in 2008. For those of you who are scrambling for a pencil to do the math, Ill save you the trouble. Thats, 70.9% of the U.S. population is connected. Thats up 119.4% from 2000-2007.
There is nothing I enjoy more than coming across new and intriguing facts pertaining to online growth. So here are a few more I found. According to www.tvhistory.tv, in 1950, there were 3,880,000 American TV “users”. Thats 9.0% of the population. It took TV 28 years to reach 72,900,000 in 1978, which was 98% of the US population at the time.
The only other thing that is rivaling Internet growth is cellular phone usage. In December of 2007 there were 255.4M Cell phone subscribers in the U.S.
